Peter Lindbergh’s instantly recognizable saturated black and white photos have been gracing the pages of Vogues around the world since the late 70s. His work is credited with birthing the advent of the “super model” and he’s worked with all of them: Linda Evangelista, Christy Turlington, Tatjana Patitz, Naomi Campbell, Cindy Crawford, Kate Moss, Amber Valletta, Kristen McMenamy, Gisele Bundchen, and Cara Delevingne to name a few. His story within a story style of portraying strong modern women also helped redefine fashion photography and many of the world’s top models claim that a photo by Lindbergh captures their truest self.
I had the pleasure of checking out his stunning large scale black and white photos in person at the opening of his show in L.A. recently. I can’t remember the last time I’ve been star struck, but I have to say that seeing so many iconic fashion photographers in the same room was pretty exciting. Peter Lindbergh himself was present along with Bruce Weber and {still my beating heart} Mario Testino among others. If you are a fashion photography lover, this show is a must see.
P.S. Things around here have been hectic and last week I was away for my birthday, but I’m glad to be back after taking a month long break from social media. In case you missed the latest posts over at Magical Mined, I thought you might enjoy:
